Has anyone seen it? I'm seeing it in about an hour and have mixed expectations - plus its a trilogy! If you have an opinion on this film I'd be greatful to hear it - and hopefully before I go see it, too!!

Haven't seen it yet but planning to. From what I read it can be quite the asskicker if you're in the mood for it but also inspired by other movies' mumbo jumbo.
But I'm a bit of a sucker for these kind of vampire thing stories really.
Plus: there's a chance of great russian girls.

I have seen it. Pretty nifty for the budget (they only spent $4.2m on it - Hollywood would have needed 20x that amount). Good that it was in Russian and not dubbed over with some crappy Englisch. I also liked the depressive ending.
However, the birds in it are a bit ropey and the overall story left me rather cold. It was better than the average Hollywood blockbuster, though. Also, keep on watching the credits, and you will see a glimpse of Part 2.

I saw Night Watch in its entirety in Russian and without subtitles before it ever got a cinematic release in Western Europe. I had a Russian speaking Lithuanian outline the plot for me. I think, to an extent, it was a manifestation of the cold war era ?anything you can do we can do better? mentality. Many westerners are quick to jump to the conclusion that Russia is some kind of third world backwater. Some of the world?s most talented CGI artists are Russian, but have been displaced by Russia?s stagnant economy.

Shame Hollywood have managed to con them into releasing the third one in English.

I'm still a bit tempted, even though someone from my film studies module tells me not to waste my time; by his account, the dialogue is simply dreadful.
